Discover Road Scholar’s Floating Campus in the Mediterranean!
One of the best ways to experience the Mediterranean Sea is by traveling on the water itself. With fresh ocean breezes and new perspectives on the region’s rich history, a voyage on the waters of the Mediterranean can offer unforgettable memories and immersive learning experiences. This is especially true on Road Scholar’s Floating Campus voyages on the Mediterranean, which add on-board experts and firsthand cultural experiences to your learning adventure.

Western Sicily & Malta — A Small Ship Voyage
In another part of the Mediterranean lies a different chapter of history, with just as many fascinating stories and artifacts to discover. From Malta to Sicily to Italy’s coastline, this Floating Campus adventure also incorporates multiple island ports into its itinerary.
Embark from Valletta, Malta’s capital, after enjoying an expert-led exploration of the walled city. Enjoy a sample of Sicily’s archaeological history at the Valley of the Temples, where you’ll find well-preserved temples and buildings from ancient Greece, and at Segesta Archaeological Park, home of the ruins of an ancient Greek temple and theater. Finally, end your journey in Sorrento and Naples, where you’ll have free time to explore after visiting Herculaneum, a Roman town doomed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and preserved by its ash.

Variety Voyager
The Variety Voyager
Both of these learning adventures take place on the Variety Voyager, a small ship that is perfect for navigating the coastal ports of the Mediterranean Sea. This ship is the ideal classroom for both voyages, with ample space to gather with other Road Scholars and continue your learning journey through discussions and lectures with your onboard expert. Each cabin offers a view of the ocean waves, along with a bathroom, television and individually controlled air conditioning. You can even experience the Mediterranean firsthand by swimming off the Variety Voyager’s platform or taking part in kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding or snorkeling. Whether you join other Road Scholars for a discussion over a meal in the open deck dining room or relax in the wood-paneled lounge, this is the perfect vessel to complete your unforgettable Floating Campus voyage.
