An Inside Look at Learning in India
When you visit India, you’ll find there’s something for everyone. Ancient stories wait to be told, colorful celebrations and rich cuisine add vibrancy and natural wonders and astounding monuments will leave you in awe.
Travel journalist Victoria Leandra recently embarked on a learning adventure to India with Road Scholar, experiencing the country’s history and heritage along the way. Throughout her journey, she created a series of videos on Instagram so others could follow along on her adventure.

Victoria first dove into Indian architecture as she explored sites in Agra and Jaipur. An architecture expert explained the layout of the Taj Mahal, including its circular dome and pietra dura featuring orange cornelian, yellow jasper and black onyx inlaid in the marble. Victoria also noted the courtyards, mirror work and views of the surrounding hills in the Amber Palace.
Then Victoria took viewers inside the home of an Indian family who hosted the Road Scholar group for a dinner. This was a unique chance for Road Scholars to be truly immersed in the local life and cuisine of India, from sampling Indian food to engaging in discussions with different members of the Singh family. As Victoria said, “This is an absolute honor because it is a chance for us to get an authentic taste of everyday life here in India.”
