If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Eurostars Sofia City Hotel in Sofia
Start of Trip: 2:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 5:00 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.
Getting to the site: Take a hotel shuttle, which can be arranged by contacting the hotel. The cost is about 25 – 50 BGN or 13 - 25 euro depending on the number of travelers, and will take about 30-45 minutes.
Alternatively, take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Approximate cost is 30 – 40 BGN (15-20 euro). The distance from Sofia airport to the hotel is approximately 10 miles and 30-45 min driving depending on traffic conditions.
For your convenience and safety, we strongly recommend that you use the service of a taxi company that holds a contract with Sofia Airport, “Yellow!”. Look for the Yellow! cars at the main taxi ranks or request the service at the offices of Yellow! in the Arrivals of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. NOTE: Arriving passengers MUST NOT respond in any way to offers that they will probably receive from representatives of other taxi companies in the arrival area of the airport, nor should they take any other taxi service before ensuring that the taxi fare (usually displayed on the front and side windows of all cabs) is reasonable. There are a number of other taxi companies which imitate the airport contractual partner. These imitators charge incredibly high prices.
Getting to the site by train or bus: There are scheduled train and bus lines that operate on a regular basis to and from neighboring countries.

End of Trip: 11:00 a.m. after breakfast; 12:00 Noon hotel check-out. Transfers continue throughout the day depending on transfer times.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
