All information we obtain regarding health precautions is from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta at 404-332-4559 or www.cdc.gov. Please remember that we are a travel company and are not authorized to prescribe any inoculations or medications. The CDC recommends that your Hepatitis A and B, COVID-19, and routine immunizations (chickenpox, DTP, flu, MMR, polio, shingles) be current. No inoculations are required to enter Italy. If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Regina in Sorrento

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. Day 2 hotel check-in; 4:15 p.m. Neighborhood Walk; 6:30 p.m. Welcome Reception; 7:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: To reach Sorrento on your own you have two options: A) Curreri Co. coaches depart every hour from Parcheggio P1 (Parking lot P1), located just outside the terminal. The ride takes about 1.5 hours with stops along the way; the ticket costs €10 and can be purchased on board. In Sorrento, get off at Circumvesuviana train station. If you can manage your bags for the walk to the hotel, take a sharp left as you exit the station, walk pass the bus parking lot behind the station, climb the 15 steps that lead to Viale degli Aranci. To facilitate rolling your suitcase, you can walk up to the sidewalk from the parking lot to the main road. Turn right on the main road, the hotel is 350 yards ahead. If you can't manage your bags there is a taxi stand at the exit of the train station; fare will be about €10 for the short ride. B) A private car and driver transfer direct from Naples Airport to Sorrento can be requested and arranged through Lavinia Tour (Rome) tel +39 06 393 77453, or email info.reserv@laviniatour.it. Fare will be approximately €170 for door-to-door service.

Getting to the site by train or bus: Sorrento is connected to Naples by a minor railway line called the Circumvesuviana. Naples is on the main railway line that connects major cities in Italy.

Your trip ends on: Monday, January 5, 2026 in Sorrento at Hotel Regina

End of Trip: 9:30 a.m. after breakfast; 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out.

Getting to the airport: Same as above in reverse.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
