After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.
A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.
This information about travel documents pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.

Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.
A travel visa is required and it must be obtained in advance.
The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.
Your visa can be secured electronically. You may use the services of our designated visa service, Passport Visa Express, please see details on the process and the price at Passport Visa Express. If you prefer you may secure your electronic visa on your own, see the notes below for details.
Please note: American & Canadian passport holders traveling to or through the United Kingdom will need authorization via the UK Government's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Visa. The application is available online and via the UK ETA App at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta#apply-for-an-eta. You will need your passport information to complete the form. Once received, the application is expected to be processed within three business days. Once you have received confirmation, it will be valid for two years or until your passport expires (whichever occurs first). The application fee is 10 GBP. You must apply before entering the UK.
If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Thorns Hall in Sedbergh
Start of Trip: 12:30 p.m. Light lunch at Holiday Inn Hotel Manchester Airport; 1:30 p.m. group transfer to first country house; 4:45 p.m. country house check-in followed by Orientation and welcome dinner.
Getting to the site: Participants make their own way to the meeting point at the Holiday Inn Manchester Airport hotel on group arrival day, day 2 of your program itinerary. Your Group Leader will meet you in the lobby at the Holiday Inn Hotel Manchester Airport which is located a 5 minute walk from Manchester Airport Terminal 2. Arrivals into Terminal 1, use the travellator between terminals which will take approximately 20 minutes. Arrivals into Terminal 3, the hotel is approximately a 30 minute walk via terminal 2. At peak times T1 and T3 may be slower as you can only use lifts to change levels with a suitcase. After lunch we will transfer as a group by motorcoach to the first country house. The group transfer departs at 1.30pm. Participants wishing to join the group transfer on group arrival day must contact rsukprograms@roadscholar.org to secure a space on the group transfer. Spaces on this transfer are strictly on a request basis. If you are arriving in country before the group travel date and travelling to Manchester Airport using ground transportation, Please go to Manchester Airport Terminal 2 and the hotel is five minute walk away. If you are travelling to Manchester Airport from central London, take a train from London Euston to Wilmslow and change there for a train to Manchester Airport. There are typically two trains per hour on this route, and the journey should take between 2 and 2.5 hours depending on connection time. A one-way (single) ticket typically costs approximately GBP90 (2019 price) for journeys beginning after 9:00 a.m. if bought at the station, although lower fares can be available if booked online in advance at nationalrail.co.uk. If you plan to travel to the first country house independently there is a strict check in time of 4pm. It will help us greatly if can advise us of your plans by email to rsukprograms@roadscholar.org

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Please note that transfers are provided for all participants arriving to MAN on group arrival day, day 2 of program itinerary. This includes those who have not booked air travel through Road Scholar. Participants who have NOT arranged their air with Road Scholar and are arriving on the official group arrival day must request a space on the transfer by email to rsukprograms@roadscholar.org Spaces on this transfer are strictly on a request basis. The group transfer departs after lunch at 1.30pm. Should we not hear from you we will assume that you have made your own arrangements to travel directly to the first country house. Participants make their own way to the meeting point at the Holiday Inn Manchester Airport hotel on group arrival day, day 2 of your program itinerary. Your Group Leader will meet you in the lobby at the Holiday Inn Hotel Manchester Airport which is located a 5 minute walk from Manchester Airport Terminal 2. If you plan to travel to the first country house independently there is a strict check in time of 4pm. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
