Whether you’re living with dementia or supporting a loved one who is, travel can still be meaningful and manageable with the right planning. In this informative and thoughtful session, dementia care specialist Dr. Beth Nolan will offer guidance on how to prepare for travel, anticipate challenges and adapt plans to meet changing needs. The session will also explore how travel may affect someone living with dementia and how to make the experience safe, respectful and enriching for all. You will learn practical tips for planning travel with someone living with dementia, from choosing destinations to setting realistic expectations as well as guidance on recognizing how different environments, routines and sensory inputs may impact the travel experience.

This lecture is part of our new Age Well series, designed to provide valuable insights, expert guidance, and practical tools for navigating the aging journey with confidence. These programs explore key topics related to aging, from health and wellness to planning for the future, offering meaningful perspectives and resources for older adults and caregivers alike. Your online lecture will take place live over the course of 1-2 hours. All times are listed in the EASTERN time zone. If you live in a different time zone, please adjust your schedule accordingly. This live online experience uses Zoom Webinar, an easy-to-use web video service that includes closed captioning. All you need is an Internet connection and your computer. You will receive a confirmation email when you enroll, and a reminder email one week and one day before, as well as the morning of the event with a link and instructions on how to tune in. You will not be pictured on screen during the lecture, but you will have the opportunity to ask the instructor live questions using the Q&A box. Unless otherwise noted, all those who enroll in this program receive access to the live event as well as a recording of the lecture that you can watch any time within the two weeks following the live event.

Beth Nolan
Beth A.D. Nolan is the chief public health officer and a lead speaker with Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care®. Formerly an assistant professor and the senior associate director for the Evaluation Institute at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health (PITT), Dr. Nolan received her Ph.D. in applied gerontology, and holds master’s degrees in human development and applied behavior analysis. She completed her post-doctoral training in geriatric psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, Pittsburgh, PA.
