Originally designed as a summer training routine for cross-country skiers, Nordic walking is the newest exercise craze sweeping its way across the world. Different than traditional walking, this sport utilizes Nordic poles, similar to ski poles, to engage 80-90% of your muscles as you walk. Alongside experts, you’ll exercise both your mind and body on a Nordic walking adventure through the Netherlands’ picturesque landscapes. Learn about medieval architecture and local wildlife as you walk along bike paths to quaint villages and local farms. When you’re not on the road, learn about the people and landscapes of the Netherlands as your barge sails past wildflowers and windmills on the way to your next stunning classroom.
Activity Level
Outdoor: Spirited
Walking up to eight miles per day on flat terrain, primarily on dedicated paved paths, some beaches. Nordic poles will be provided.

Love to learn and explore in a small-group setting? These adventures offer small, personal experiences with groups of 13 to 24 participants.

Olga De Bruin
Olga De Bruin, like many Dutch people, began cycling at a very young age. Her parents moved around The Netherlands often, which incited her travel bug. After high school, she walked, biked, and climbed all over Australia and New Zealand. Years later, that passion took her over most of Europe, with Norway and Austria being her favorites for cross country skiing, influencing her latest passion of Nordic walking. Olga studied occupational therapy and finance administration, and trained as a Red Cross volunteer and ambulance nurse.

Peter Tamse

Peter Tamse, the son of a Dutch professor of modern history, developed a passion for European political and cultural history through childhood travels to cities and museums. After studying at the THT in The Hague, he began his career in hospitality with Landal Greenparks and NYP. Peter later became a group leader, focusing on Europe’s religious heritage and leading visitors along pilgrimage routes like the St. James Way, Olavsway, and Via Francigena. An avid cyclist and ski enthusiast, he leads in both summer and winter.
